Heartwood youth present 'Treasure Island' Heartwood’s annual winter middle school production will hit the stage soon, as an enthusiastic group of 4th-8th grade Midcoast youths present an adaptation of “Treasure Island.” A cast of 28 will bring this delightful spin on Rober Louis Stevenson’s classic novel to life for school peers Jan. 29 and 30. Final showings Thursday, Jan. 22 at 2 and 7 p.m. This week at the Harbor Theater High schoolers see ‘A Christmas Carol’ There are dozens of holiday plays that many people incorporate into their winter traditions, including Charles Dickens' “A Christmas Carol.” Recently, the Boothbay Region High School (BRHS) 2029 freshman class was given the opportunity to see “A Christmas Carol” at the Portland Stage due to a generous grant from Educate Boothbay and St. Columba/Winslow. Celebration date moved to Feb. 2Lincoln Theater marks 150 years as a cultural cornerstone On February 2 Lincoln Theater will celebrate a remarkable milestone: 150 years since the community was first welcomed into what was then known as Lincoln Hall. Solas brings Irish Celtic music to The Waldo Solas is lighting up stages across the globe as they celebrate three decades of pushing boundaries and honoring traditions in Irish music. And on March 15, Solas comes to Waldoboro for a 7:30 concert at The Waldo Theatre. Changing of the guard at Camden Opera House Dagney Ernest, who has been Camden Opera House's promotions and box office manager for the past six-and-a-half years, has retired. Kathleen Payton Brown has assumed that position as of the new year. Before joining the COH staff, Dagney had a long and colorful history with the theater, singing and acting on the Opera House stage with local performance groups, including Camden Civic Theatre and the Everyman Repertory Theatre, swing quartet Fascinatin' Rhythm, and the Arthur Hall International Dance Company. MaineHealth Lincoln HospitalCandace Vlcek opens 2026 exhibits Candace Vlcek of Jefferson will be the first artist of 2026 to exhibit in the hospital’s Hall Gallery, January through Feb. 27. Her pastels, oils and acrylics all provide a glimpse of life on the Midcoast, a place she has called home since 2021. Prior to then, she and her husband lived in several other parts of the US as well as Costa Rica. They returned to live in Maine three different times since 2005 and now call Jefferson home.
