"Song Sung Blue" - (PG-13; 2 hours, 12 minutes) - Based on a true story, two down-on-their-luck musicians (Hugh Jackman and Kate Hudson) form a joyous Neil Diamond tribute band, proving it's never too late to find love and follow your dreams.  Hudson was nominated for a Golden Globe and is an Oscar nominee for Best Actress. Final showtimes Thursday, Feb. 12 at 2 and 7 PM. Presented in partnership with Gifts at 136.

The Waldo is excited to have Saturday Night Live (SNL) cast member James Austin Johnson performing stand-up April 24 at 7:30 p.m. James Austin Johnson is a comedian and actor currently in his fourth season.

He is also known for his prolific voice-over work in both TV and film. His acting credits include “Barry,” “Better Call Saul,” “She Said” and “Hail Caesar!” He voices the Grinch in Wondery’s podcast series “'Tis the Grinch Holiday Podcast," which recently wrapped its second season.

The Blue Café series of free performances in Camden Opera House’s intimate third floor listening room presents Hildaland on Wednesday, March 4 at 7:30 p.m.  Hildaland is a contemporary duo blending Scottish and American traditional music, treating geographic borders as points of exploration rather than limitation.

"Ocean" takes viewers on a breathtaking journey, showing there is nowhere more vital for our survival, more full of life, wonder, or surprise, than the ocean. Attenborough, the celebrated broadcaster and filmmaker, reveals how his lifetime has coincided with the great age of ocean discovery.

The Nor’easters Barbershop Chorus of Mid Coast Maine are taking orders for Singing Valentines for Saturday, Feb. 14.  The area covered for orders is Bristol to Brunswick and all places in between.

Attention all young performers who love to sing, act, and spend their summer doing what they love most—being on stage! Maine State Music Theatre still has youth audition time slots for two productions in its 2026 season: Disney’s “Frozen” and “Matilda JR.” Ages for “Frozen” - 8 to 12 yrs old (or looks that age) and for “Matilda” - 8 to 18 years old only.

In addition to the inspiring performances that take place on the stage at the Opera House at Boothbay Harbor, there is a team of staff and volunteers hard at work behind the scenes. One such group is the Board of Directors who meet monthly and help the staff carry out the Opera House mission.

Heartwood’s annual winter middle school production will hit the stage soon, as an enthusiastic group of 4th-8th grade Midcoast youths present an adaptation of “Treasure Island.” A cast of 28 will bring this delightful spin on Rober Louis Stevenson’s classic novel to life for school peers Jan. 29 and 30. Public performances are Jan. 30 and 31.

"The Secret Agent" - (R; 2 hours, 38 minutes - In Portuguese, German, and English) -  Golden Globe Winner for Best Non-English Language Film. Brazil, 1977. Marcelo, a technology expert in his early 40s, is on the run. Hoping to reunite with his son, he travels to Recife during Carnival but soon realizes that the city is not the safe haven he was expecting. Winner of Best Director and Best Actor in Cannes. Final showings Thursday, Jan. 22 at 2 and 7 p.m.

High schoolers see ‘A Christmas Carol’

There are dozens of holiday plays that many people incorporate into their winter traditions, including Charles Dickens' “A Christmas Carol.” Recently, the Boothbay Region High School (BRHS) 2029 freshman class was given the opportunity to see “A Christmas Carol” at the Portland Stage due to a generous grant from Educate Boothbay and St. Columba/Winslow.

On February 2 Lincoln Theater will celebrate a remarkable milestone: 150 years since the community was first welcomed into what was then known as Lincoln Hall.

Solas is lighting up stages across the globe as they celebrate three decades of pushing boundaries and honoring traditions in Irish music. And on March 15, Solas comes to Waldoboro for a 7:30 concert at The Waldo Theatre.

Hailed by The Boston Globe as “the finest Celtic ensemble this country has ever produced,” and by The Wall Street Journal as “an Irish traditional band bearing all the marks of greatness,” Solas continues to captivate audiences with their spellbinding musicianship and genre-defying creativity.

Talking Art in Maine with Glenn Chadbourne

Lincoln Theater will welcome acclaimed Maine artist Glenn Chadbourne on Thursday, Jan. 29, at 7 p.m. for a free public event as part of its ongoing series, Talking Art in Maine.

Talking Art in Maine is a series of one-on-one conversations with artists and curators who have made a substantial impact on Maine’s creative community. Hosted by Emily Sabino, the series is designed to give audiences intimate access to the artist and their selected pieces, complete with firsthand explanations into each piece, as well as the opportunity to ask questions about their work and experiences.

Dagney Ernest, who has been Camden Opera House's promotions and box office manager for the past six-and-a-half years, has retired. Kathleen Payton Brown has assumed that position as of the new year. 

Before joining the COH staff, Dagney had a long and colorful history with the theater, singing and acting on the Opera House stage with local performance groups, including Camden Civic Theatre and the Everyman Repertory Theatre, swing quartet Fascinatin' Rhythm, and the Arthur Hall International Dance Company.

Candace Vlcek of Jefferson will be the first artist of 2026 to exhibit in the hospital’s Hall Gallery, January through Feb. 27. Her pastels, oils and acrylics all provide a glimpse of life on the Midcoast, a place she has called home since 2021. Prior to then, she and her husband lived in several other parts of the US as well as Costa Rica. They returned to live in Maine three different times since 2005 and now call Jefferson home.
