On Oct. 29, ninety-seven living souls dragged their bones across the creaky old floors of the Opera House of Boothbay Harbor (OHBH) to behold the magic of community spirit and the terror of storytelling.

Ghostly shadows waltzed throughout the grand room. Flickers of candlelight cast spells. Friends dressed in their Halloween bests amassed in clusters around the potluck, as skeletons peered down from the balcony, evoking a sense of Camille Saint-Saëns’ “Danse Macabre.” Twice, something unseen brushed against my leg.

On Saturday, Nov. 7 at 1 p.m., community members are invited to participate in an interactive performance focused on the Damariscotta River. This event is for anyone with a connection to the river or with an interest in art-science-community connections.

It is that time of year when the Bremen Library gets ready for our popular wreath sale fundraiser. The sale will begin earlier this year. Wreaths will be available for sale beginning Wednesday, Nov. 11 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Bremen Town House on Waldoboro Road (Route 32) next to the Bremen Fire House. The sale will continue Monday through Saturday and end Saturday, Nov. 21. Any remaining wreaths will be sold on Nov.

The Edgecomb Community Church will be holding its annual Thanksgiving pie sale on Tuesday, Nov. 24, from 9 a.m. to noon at both the church at 15 Cross Point Road in Edgecomb, and at Ames True Value on Route 1, Wiscasset.

After a long hiatus, students at Boothbay Region High School (BRHS) are going international. In February, nine students from the junior and senior classes will take a nine-day excursion to Costa Rica through Education Tours (EF), where they'll kayak across Lake Arenal, zipline through lush canopies and do much more.

The Lincoln County Historical Association (LCHA) has announced its fall 2026 series of online talks for members, featuring presentations on local art history, colonial land claims, and Maine’s musical traditions.

The Edgecomb Community Church is inviting any and all to a special event on Sunday, Nov. 1. Guests are asked to gather at 11:30 a.m. A Samhain Gathering and Celtic New Year ritual will be offered at noon at the 15 Cross Point Road site of the ECC Labyrinth which is located behind the church.

Join us at Historic New England’s Bowman House on Sunday, Nov. 1 from 1 to 3 p.m. to celebrate the installation of Stopping Stones, commemorating Cicero and Cornelius, two enslaved Black men who lived and worked here. Nov. 1 is the 251st anniversary of the day Cicero self-emancipated and walked away to join George Washington’s Continental Army. 

The Voices of Love concert, which will be presented at the Congregational Church of Boothbay Harbor, 125 Townsend Ave., at 3 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 18, is a program featuring local musicians and readers. Concert goers will be inspired by American music performed by Timothy Wissler, retired organist from The Cathedral in Atlanta, the handbell and vocal choirs of the Congregational Church; flutist Carolyn Lanigan,  singer/songwriter Ed Parker, and Genie O'Connell conductor, organist and pianist.

Lincoln Theater is pleased to welcome singer-songwriter Aly Apaltro, stage name Lady Lamb, for a special performance of “An Evening with Strings,” Friday, Oct. 23 at 7 p.m. Join us for this intimate evening in the historic 150-year-old theater and enjoy music by a local breakout star.

Burke’s Island Farm, Route 27, Boothbay will be holding a Stall-O-Treat event on Saturday, Oct. 24 beginning at 5 p.m. All are welcome to this free event.

Horses and horse owners will be in costume, the stalls will be decorated, there will be games, treats and more to celebrate Halloween.

Artists and art lovers gathered at Boothbay Region Art Foundation Oct. 3 for the opening reception of ARTinME, BRAF’s annual juried show, and announcements of awarded work. Juror Dennis Gleason of Gleason Fine Art noted that of the approximately 110 entries for the large format show, 50-55 “caught (his) eye immediately.”

Dress in your costume and bring your trick-or-treating bag for the 27th annual Halloween Parade! The parade will commence at the Boothbay Harbor Memorial Library Lawn at 4 p.m. sharp on Saturday, Oct. 31 and will end at the Opera House at Boothbay Harbor for a special Trunk-or-Treat. This event will happen rain or shine.

Boothbay Harbor Memorial Library is hosting its first Author Talk of the fall season with Maine author Claire Hersom. Join us on Thursday, Oct. 15 at 10:30 a.m. as Hersom discusses her debut novel, “Smithville Junction: A Maine Novel.”
