UMaine Extension offers greenhouse technology workshops in Boothbay
University of Maine Cooperative Extension will offer two Greenhouse Education Program workshops Saturday, Oct. 17, at the Bosarge Education Center at Coastal Maine Botanical Gardens, 105 Botanical Gardens Drive, Boothbay. Basics/Refresher of Greenhouse Technology begins at 12:30 p.m. and Greenhouse Lighting begins at 3 p.m.
The workshops are designed for home gardeners, aspiring growers, educators and others interested in greenhouse technology. Topics in the first session will include greenhouse structures and covering materials, heating, cooling, ventilation, automation, environmental controls and practical, cost-effective approaches to common greenhouse challenges. The second session will focus on the role of light in greenhouse crop production and practical approaches to managing and supplementing light. Both sessions will be led by Ankit Singh, assistant Extension professor and ornamental horticulture educator at Umaine.
