'Voices of Love' concert
Event Date
Sunday, October 18, 2026 - 03:00 pmThe Voices of Love concert, which will be presented at the Congregational Church of Boothbay Harbor, 125 Townsend Ave., at 3 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 18, is a program featuring local musicians and readers. Concert goers will be inspired by American music performed by Timothy Wissler, retired organist from The Cathedral in Atlanta, the handbell and vocal choirs of the Congregational Church; flutist Carolyn Lanigan, singer/songwriter Ed Parker, and Genie O'Connell conductor, organist and pianist.
The concert is the brainchild of Wissler and O'Connell who meet regularly when he is in town and the chat often turns to organ and music issues and ideas. In 2025 after a winter of thinking they came together again and decided that a fun program needed to happen and they zeroed in on the ideas of comfort and hope. Thus Voices of Hope was born. This year's concert, with completely different readings and music, is Voices of Love.
Concertgoers will get to hear more musical favorites and quotes from well-known writers although the quotes might not be well-known. Nothing provides comfort for the soul like singing together with other people and so the audience has an opportunity to sing together at both the beginning and end of the program.
The approximately one hour program is not intended to be political or romantic. It is free, appropriate for all ages, and offers a reception afterwards. Come and spend an hour recharging your soul's battery.
