Boothbay’s top girls tennis player over the past four years, Laura Chapman, who has not lost a Mountain Valley match over that time, and fellow senior Ivory Cody, a two-year player for the Seahawks, were honored before the team’s final home match of the season against Spruce Mountain on Wednesday, May 14.

The Boothbay Region High School girls tennis team won its second straight match, defeating Spruce Mountain at home, 4-1, on Wednesday, May 14. The win improved the Seahawks' record to 4-3, with three matches to play in the regular season, all on the road. The Phoenix fell to 1-4.

First singles: Laura Chapman (B) won, 6-0, 6-0, over Breanna Lee

Second singles: Hannah Kreft (B) won, 6-7 (5-7), 6-2, 6-1, over Riley Small

Third singles: Izzy Andreasen (B) won, 6-1, 6-1, over Alaina Kachnoviche

In a surprising seventh-inning upset, the Boothbay baseball team eked out a 4-3 win against Maranacook, ranked number one in Class C South. The Seahawks are now 3-4 and seeded third in Class D South. 

The teams held each other at bay until the third inning, when the Black Bears scored three runs on errors, according to Boothbay coach Ed Crocker. The Seahawks responded in the sixth, tying the game with three runs including a strong call from Maddox Cusumano.

Wet weather has been a factor all season long at both Wiscasset Speedway and local race tracks across New England. Leading into this past weekend, Mother Nature’s misfortune had already resulted in an abbreviated Group 1 racing program last week at and a 2-week postponement of the Group 2 season opener.

The Boothbay Region Seahawks edged the Winthrop Ramblers in Winthrop, 3-2, on Monday, May 12. It was the second time this week Boothbay was victorious over Winthrop.

The Seahawks improved to 5-0 and are scheduled to travel to Carrabec on Wednesday, May 14.

At Madison on Friday, May 9, the Boothbay Region High School girls tennis team lost, 4-1, to drop to 2-3 on the season.

First singles player Laura Chapman got the Seahawks’ only victory, shutting out Jade Young, 10-0.

In second singles, Amara Buja defeated Hannah Kreft, 10-4.

Kylee Foss defeated Izzy Andreasen, 10-3, in third singles.

In first doubles, Rylee Gordon and Audrey Dillingham defeated Abby Orchard and Maddie Andreasen, 10-8.

On Friday, May 9, the Boothbay Region Seahawks defeated Madison, 4-1, in Boothbay Harbor. The Seahawks improved to 4-0 on the season while Madison dropped to 3-3.

The Seahawks are schedule to travel to Winthrop on Monday, May 12.

The Boothbay baseball team took a solid 10-0 win against the Winslow Black Raiders May 9 in six innings at Boothbay. The Seahawks are now 2-4 for the season.

The Boothbay Region High School boys tennis team improved to 3-0 with a 5-0 win over visiting Winthrop on Wednesday, May 7. The match was played at Boothbay Region YMCA and the teams competed in a pro set format. Winthrop fell to 4-1 with the loss.

The Seahawks are scheduled to host Madison on Friday, May 9 at 4 p.m., then travel to Winthrop on Monday, May 12.

Weather changes BRHS sports May 7

Due to the weather, some changes to the Boothbay Region High School sports schedule today have been made, according to BRHS Athletic Director Allan Crocker

The scheduled home baseball game against Spruce Mountain has been postponed due to the wet field.

The boys tennis match against Winthrop will be played inside at the Boothbay Region YMCA with a scheduled start time shortly after 5 p.m.

Friday's weather forecast is rain in the afternoon so changes may be made to the baseball and boys and girls tennis…

The Boothbay Harbor baseball team took two losses this past week, leaving the Seahawks with a 1-4 record for the season. The Seahawks are now ranked fourth in the Class D South Heal point standings.  

May 2, the Seahawks let seven errors get the best of them as they lost to Dirigo 4-2. 

The Seahawks scored the first run of the game in the third inning. The Cougars responded with three in the third and another in the fifth. Boothbay scored the final run in the sixth inning.

The Boothbay Region High School girls tennis team won its second match of the season Monday, May 5 with a 5-0 win over the visiting Dirigo Cougars. BRHS is now 2-2 after losing to Maranacook 4-1 on May 2 and Hall-Dale 4-1 on April 30.

The Boothbay Region High School boys tennis team improved to 2-0 on the season with its second straight shutout win, a 5-0 victory over Dirigo in Dixfield on Monday, May 5.

Due to the wet field conditions, today's baseball game at Boothbay Region High School has been postponed. A make-up date has been set for Tuesday, May 13 at 4 p.m., according to BRHS Athletic Director Allan Crocker.

BRHS Class of '26 serves Derby Day pancakes

Boothbay Region High School (BRHS) class of 2026 hosted a Derby Day pancake breakfast at Brady’s Restaurant on Saturday, May 3. Donations were accepted in lieu of a set price. Proceeds are earmarked for graduation-related costs, including items like diploma covers, caps and gowns and other day-of expenses. Madeleine Andreasen, class treasurer, reported the event raised $435 toward the class's $10,000 goal.

The Boothbay/Wiscasset boys' track and field team finished third April 29 in the Mountain Valley Conference meet in Wiscasset. The Seawolves won three of 18 events. The team scored 69 points. Maranacook finished second with 70, and Lisbon dominated the meet, scoring 179.

Ben Gapsky won the 110M and 300M hurdles and finished second in the high jump and triple jump. AJ Crocker posted a victory in the 3200M race.

In the 200M dash, Boothbay/Wiscasset's Isaac Fanslau finished fifth with a 25.72 second mark.…

The Boothbay/Wiscasset girls' track and field team finished third April 29 in the Mountain Valley Conference meet in Wiscasset. Boothbay/Wiscasset scored 89 points and Lisbon's 89.33 edged them out of second place. Maranacook won the meet with 102.66 points. 

The Seawolves won six of 18 events. Rose Campbell won three events. Karen Higgins won two and Anna Strozier won the triple jump.
