Capital Area tops 36ers in American Legion action
In American Legion baseball play, the Boothbay 36ers scored four runs in the first three innings, but Capital Area scored more June 29 in capturing the victory. Boothbay scored twice in the first inning and single runs in the second and third innings, but Capital Area scored three in the first, three in the second and one in the third inning. Capital Area won 11-4 at Sherman Field. Boothbay drops to 2-5.
Boothbay scored four runs on eight hits. The 36ers drew eight walks, struck out four times and left 10 men on base. Felix Clines, Dom Frisone and Devin Bendix singled twice. Braeden Toothaker doubled. Liam Jacobs singled. Capital Area committed two errors.
Andreas Erakalis pitched one-third of an inning. He allowed four hits and three earned runs and struck out one. Sam Wissman pitched 3.2 innings, allowed three hits, one earned run, walked three and struck out four. Casey Phelps pitched two innings, allowed no hits, no earned runs and struck out four.
The Boothbay 36ers' next game is Thursday, July 2 against Roderick Crosby Flyers in Farmington.
