Alice M. Vannah
Alice M. Vannah passed away peacefully on June 18, 2026 at St. Andrews Village Safe Havens Memory Care.
She was born on Jan.16, 1939, to Wilfred and Ethel (Greenleaf) Poore, and was a graduate of Boothbay Region High School, Class of 1957.
Following high school, Alice moved to Scarborough for several years, where she worked at both HP Hood and A&P. She returned to Boothbay in 1970 to marry the love of her life, Carroll M. Vannah. After returning home, she began what would become a lifelong career at the Boothbay Region YMCA.
Alice was deeply connected to her community and was known for her dedication to the East Boothbay Methodist Church, the YMCA, and most importantly, the children and members of the Y. She volunteered with the Y arts program and also led the Active Older Adults program for many years. She and Carroll often spent weekends exploring and seeking out interesting destinations, trying new restaurants and venues, and then planning these trips to share those experiences with others.
Alice was predeceased by her parents, her husband, Carroll Vannah; and her brother, Cleveland “Ross” Barter.
She is lovingly remembered by her daughter, Cathleen Sproul and fiancé Jeff Allen, of Edgecomb; her grandsons, H. Alec Farmer of Edgecomb and W. Kyle Farmer and his partner Allie Marquette of East Boothbay and her six great-grandchildren, Caiden, Noah, Aubrey, Cameron, Blake, and Wilder.
A graveside service will be held at a later date, to be announced.
Alice’s family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the entire staff of Safe Havens at St. Andrews Village for their compassionate care and kindness.
