Fatal crash in Boothbay
On Aug. 8, at about 1:54 p.m., Lincoln County Communications Center received a report of a single-vehicle motor vehicle crash on Wiscasset Road in Boothbay.
A preliminary investigation indicates a pickup truck operated by an Edgecomb man was traveling southbound on Wiscasset Road. The vehicle crossed the centerline into the northbound lane, entered a driveway, and struck two unoccupied parked vehicles before coming to rest against a shed.
The operator was the sole occupant of the vehicle. He was not wearing a seatbelt, and no airbags deployed. Emergency medical personnel from Boothbay Region Ambulance Service attempted life-saving measures at the scene but were unable to resuscitate the driver.
Neither speed nor alcohol are considered factors in the crash. A medical event is suspected as the primary cause, pending final determination by the Office of Chief Medical Examiner.
Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office was assisted at the scene by Boothbay Fire Department, Boothbay Region Ambulance Service, and Central Lincoln County Ambulance Service. Wiscasset Road remained open throughout the response.
The operator's name will be released Monday, Aug. 10.
The incident remains under investigation by Deputy Samuel Alexander. Anyone who witnessed the crash is asked to contact Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office at 207-882-7332.
