The Madison Bulldogs improved to 5-5 on the season with a 51-23 win over the visiting Boothbay Region Seahawks Saturday, Jan. 10.

The Bulldogs got balanced scoring with Jaelyn Rich leading the way with nine points, followed by Emma Anton with eight, and scoring seven points each were Brookelyn Rich, Leah Herper and Jillian Linkletter.

Eleanor Erwin was Boothbay’s top scorer with 11, followed by Aryana Gray with five.

Mt. Abram runs past Boothbay

The Mt. Abram Roadrunners improved to 8-3 on the season as they rolled over the visiting Boothbay Region Seahawks, 87-52, Friday, Jan. 9.

“Their mascot fit the team perfectly,” said Seahawk coach Dan Hallinan. “They got the ball up the floor fast and shot very well from their primary players. We see them again and would like to see improvement when they come to town.”

Leading the scoring for Mt. Abram were Brennan Mitchell with 29 points, followed by Killian Pillsbury with 24 and Chase Ross with 20.

Roadrunners cruise past Seahawks 67-28

The second-seeded Mt. Abram Roadrunners took advantage of a boatload of Seahawk turnovers to improve to 8-2 on the season with a 67-28 win at Boothbay Region High School Thursday night, Jan. 8.

The Seahawks never got started offensively against Mt. Abram, managing only one field goal and two free throws in the first half as they trailed 42-4 after 16 minutes.

Girls' make-up game Jan. 10 at Madison

Boothbay Region High School Athletic Director Allan Crocker has announced that the Seahawk girls basketball team will make up its Dec. 23 game at Madison, postponed because of the weather, this Saturday, Jan. 10 at 4 p.m.

NYA edges Boothbay 33-27

The North Yarmouth Academy Panthers improved to 2-7 on the season with a 33-27 win over the visiting Boothbay Region Seahawks Tuesday, Jan. 6.

The game was close throughout but the Panthers got nine points from their leading scorer Daicey Speirs (14) in the fourth quarter as NYA outscored Boothbay 13-8 in the final eight minutes to secure the win. Alicia Fontana added 12 points for NYA.

Tatum French led Boothbay with 20 points.

Boothbay is now 4-4 on the season after their third straight loss.

Senior Simeon Bates scored 19 points to lead the Boothbay Region Seahawks to a 60-32 win at home over the North Yarmouth Academy Panthers Tuesday night, Jan. 6.

Joining Bates in scoring in double figures were senior Harry Hinckley with 11 and sophomore Chase Licursi with 10.

The Seahawks, who led 36-6 at halftime, were never threatened and coach Dan Hallinan used all his players to gain their third win of the season (3-6). North Yarmouth dropped to 2-7 with the loss.

The Boothbay Region High School indoor track team boys took three podium placements at the University of Southern Maine New Year’s Invitational. The event was Jan. 2 and 3 in Gorham.

Hall-Dale defeats Seahawks

The Hall-Dale Bulldogs (1-6) won their first game of the season at home Saturday, Jan. 3 defeating the now 4-3 Boothbay Region Seahawks, 52-35, in an afternoon contest.

Sierra Gibbons led the Bulldogs with 32 points.

Tatum French led the Seahawks with 13 points and Sophie White added 12.

Boothbay, currently seeded in sixth place in Class D South, is next scheduled to travel to North Yarmouth Academy (1-7) on Tuesday, Jan. 6 at 6 p.m. The Seahawks defeated the Panthers at home on Dec. 9, 61-33.

The Class C South-leading Hall-Dale Bulldogs took down the Boothbay Region Seahawks, 72-45, at BRHS Friday night, Jan. 2 to improve to 7-0 on the season. The Seahawks, now in 11th place in Class D South, fell to 2-6 on the season.

Oak Hill boys topple Boothbay, 60-53, in MVC basketball action

Boothbay's Chase Licursi started the game off with a baseline 3-pointer Dec. 29 against Mountain Valley Conference rival Oak Hill, igniting a 13-3 Seahawk run, but it didn't take long for the Raiders to climb back into the contest. Oak Hill went on a run of its own, scoring 14 straight points, to take a 17-13 lead. 

At the end of the first quarter, Boothbay lead 21-20, but in the end, the Raiders won, 60-53. Boothbay falls to 2-5. Oak Hill improves 2-4.

The Oak Hill Raiders broke open a rather low-scoring first half, tallying 29 points in the third quarter, to defeat the visiting Boothbay Region Seahawks, 62-32, in Wales Tuesday night, Dec. 30.

Boothbay stormed out to a 13-3 lead, but Oak Hill rallied, and won, 60-53, Monday night in Mountain Valley Conference basketball action. Boothbay falls to 2-5. Oak Hill improves to 2-4.

Boothbay's leading scorer was Ethan Clark with 13 points with three 3-pointers. Other Seahawk scorers were Simeon Bates and Chase Licursi with 10 each, Alex Ross with seven (one 3-pointer), Peyton Barter and Harry Hinckley six each, and Aiden Locke with two.

Boothbay hosts Hall-Dale (5-0) at 6 p.m. Jan. 2.

The visiting Madison Bulldogs made 12 three-pointers and cruised to a 69-46 win at Boothbay Region High School Monday, Dec. 22.

The Bulldogs, now 4-1, jumped out to a 21-4 first quarter lead and led by 22 at the half, 36-14.

The Seahawks couldn’t find many open shots against Madison’s swarming defense and turnovers hurt Boothbay, now 2-4.

Jacob Linkletter led Madison with 21 points (six 3-pointers), followed by Tyshawn Hall with 19.

Tonight's (Dec. 23) scheduled game at Madison for the Boothbay Region High School girls basketball team has been postponed due to the weather forecast, according to BRHS Athletic Director Allan Crocker. No make-up date has been set at this time.

Simeon Bates scored 19 points and the Seahawks tallied eight 3-pointers to get their second win of the season (2-3), 66-37, at Richmond Friday night, Dec. 19.

Boothbay scored 20 points each of the first two quarters and led at halftime, 40-19. Alex Ross (seven points) hit two 3-pointers in the first quarter and Ethan Clark (nine points) made two of his three 3-pointers in the second quarter. Boothbay scored its fourth win in girls' high school basketball action Dec. 19 with a 47-18 victory over Richmond. The Bobcats took an early 2-0 lead with a couple free throws, but Boothbay reeled off 13 straight points to lead after one quarter by 11. Boothbay is now 4-1. Richmond drops to 1-4.

With a roster of strong returnees and some rookies, coach Nick Scott said he has high hopes for indoor track this season. The 22-person team has its first meet Dec. 19 at University of Southern Maine in Gorham.
