Mary F. Silvaria of Boothbay Harbor passed away peacefully, leaving behind a loving family and a community of friends who will remember her for her kindness, independent spirit, and appreciation for the simple joys of life.

Mary Frances Silvaria was born on July 16, 1950, in Lowell, Massachusetts, to John B. Silvaria and Rita F. (Mackun) Silvaria. She grew up in Lowell and attended Lowell High School, graduating with the Class of 1968.

Mary had a true green thumb and took great pride in caring for her collection of plants. She had a deep respect and appreciation for the outdoors, nature, and sunny days. She found happiness in life's simple pleasures, whether challenging herself with crossword puzzles, reading the local newspaper, or enjoying her daily astrology reading.

She was an avid television viewer and especially enjoyed “Star Trek” and her favorite game shows, “Wheel of Fortune” and “Jeopardy.” Mary also had a special love for animals, particularly cats, and was very fond of Garfield.

Above all, Mary loved her family. She cherished being a grandmother and great-grandmother and treasured the time she spent with those she loved. She also valued the community of friends she made throughout her life, both in and out of the harbor, many of whom became like an extended family to her.

Mary was predeceased by her parents and her brother, Mark W. Silvaria.

She is survived by her son, Christopher Silvaria of Kannapolis, North Carolina; daughter, Michelle Silvaria of Pelham, New Hampshire; grandson, Micheal Hughes of Kannapolis, North Carolina; granddaughter, Kyo “Kayla” Silvaria Jones of Kannapolis, North Carolina; grandsons Kenneth Cadieux of Natick, Massachusetts, and Gerald Godreau of Allenstown, New Hampshire; great-grandson Morgan Godreau; granddaughters Monica Godreau of Methuen, Massachusetts, and Diana Godreau of Pelham, New Hampshire; her brother, John Silvaria; as well as nieces, nephews, and many friends and neighbors whom she considered part of her extended family.

Mary will be remembered for her love of family, her green thumb, her appreciation for nature and animals, and the many simple pleasures that brought joy to her days. Her memory will live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.
