David J. Chartier
David James Chartier, 58, of Woolwich passed away Aug. 23, 2026.
David was born in Woodbury, New Jersey Oct. 24, 1967, to John Edward Sr. and Patricia Ann. He moved to Maine in 1985 and graduated from Wiscasset High School, where he met Ginger Simmons. They married Nov. 26, 1988, and spent nearly 38 years building a life and raising their family together.
David was an adventurer and entrepreneur at heart. He loved everything about being outdoors, from time on the water and riding trails to hunting, traveling, and exploring new places. He was happiest when he was moving, building, or planning his next adventure.
That same spirit carried into his work, where he was always looking for ways to grow his businesses and create something lasting for his family. What began as Chartier Building & Remodeling in 2001 grew over the years to include Kennebec Marine in 2019. His family will continue both businesses.
But more than anything, David loved his family. His wife, children, and grandchildren were at the center of his life, and the time he spent with them was what mattered most.
He was preceded in death by his father, John Chartier Sr.
He is survived by his mother, Patricia Elton (Jackson); his wife, Ginger (Simmons) Chartier; his sons, David J. II and his wife, Mary Ellen, and Nathan P. and his wife, Monica; his brothers, Tom and his wife, Danielle; John and his wife Lori and his sister, Shirl Levin and her husband, Max.
David treasured his role as a grandfather and will be deeply missed by his three grandchildren, Rosalie, Harrison, and Lincoln of Nathan and Monica. He will also be deeply missed by the many close friends who shared his life.
A celebration of life will be held at Overlook Farm of Maine, 568 Gardiner Road, Wiscasset, at 1 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 19.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Bath Regional Career and Technical Center.
