The public is invited to experience one of Maine’s iconic coastal landmarks during Maine Open Lighthouse Day at Burnt Island Light on Saturday, Sept. 12, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Hosted with support from Balmy Days Cruises, the event offers visitors an opportunity to step ashore and explore the historic Burnt Island lighthouse property while enjoying live music and a festive day on the Maine coast.

Throughout the event, guests can tour the Burnt Island lighthouse tower and keeper’s house, gaining a closer look at the history and character of this treasured maritime landmark.

Adding to the atmosphere will be live music from Nick Lanzer and Dylan Macintosh, featuring sea shanties and more. Guests can also enjoy lawn games and take in the island’s scenic coastal surroundings.

“Maine Open Lighthouse Day is a wonderful opportunity to connect people with the places and stories that have shaped Maine’s maritime heritage,” said Doug Goldhirsch, president of the board of directors for Keepers of Burnt Island Light. “Burnt Island offers a unique combination of history, beautiful scenery and a relaxed island experience that makes this event special.”
