Ocean Point
Summer is in full swing here at Ocean Point beginning with our first full week of activities. Along with our regular tennis, pickleball and kids activities this week, Zumba starts on Tuesday at 8:30 a.m. and Yoga on Thursday, also at 8:30.
New to the calendar this season is a children’s read aloud at 10 on Wednesday morning at the Casino. Also new is Mah Jong at 3 p.m. and this event is also at the Casino. Whether you are a seasoned player or are interested in learning, all levels are welcome.
A Town Hall meeting is planned for Thursday at the Casino beginning at 5:30 p.m., all are welcome to attend and hear about all of the work the Board has been involved with over the winter.
Calling all Ocean Point chefs to prepare one or more food items to contribute to the Food Sale Friday morning at 9:30. Please bring your food donations to the Casino by 9 and enjoy coffee, donuts, great conversation and raffle with Ocean Point friends.
Our traditional 4th of July celebration commences on Saturday morning at 9:30 beginning at Grimes Cove. The band is always searching for new talent so be sure to contact Jonathan Dawson if you wish to participate in our time honored tradition.
The Rev. Wesley A Smith, American Baptist Churches, USA (ret.), Harvey Cedars, New Jersey will conduct Sunday services at the Wilson Chapel on Sunday, July 5. Service begins at 9:30 a.m. and all are welcome. Music will be provided by Castlebay.
We are all in for a special treat on Sunday evening when the Blues Prophets Quartet will perform at the Casino 7:30-10:30. Admission is $15 and tickets can be purchased online through the website.
A nature walk is planned for Monday, July 6 from 10 to 11 a.m., beginning at the Casino. Later that evening, a S’mores night will be held at Grimes Cove from 7 to 8.
For those wishing to learn how to play pickleball or brush up on your game, there is a clinic planned on Tuesday, July 7 at 9 a.m.
Also planned July 7 is the children’s picnic at Grimes Cove beginning at 6 p.m.
The adults will be playing a rowdy game of Right, Left,Center at 7:30 that same evening at the Casino.
As you may recall last year the History Committee presented two interesting talks on the history of Ocean Point and another will take place Wednesday, July 8 at 7 p.m. Please plan on attending this informative and interesting event.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday July 11 for Kate Turpie Johnson at the Casino from 4 to 6 p.m.; all are welcome to attend.
