It’s been a guaranteed win in three of the 15 years he’s coached. Laura Chapman, who is now a homeschooled senior, is “one of the top 10 players in the state,” said Arsenault on April 16 during a preseason practice. “She has been the key to the success of our team over the past three years. She plays tennis throughout the year and is on the court… Wiscasset Speedway ready to kick off action-packed 2025 race season After a six long months of hibernation, Wiscasset Speedway is prepared to open their gates once again for an exciting 26-event race season. The most significant change made during the off-season was a new addition to the Group 1 lineup in the Davis Erector Group Crate Modifieds. The division, spearheaded by track owner Richard Jordan, features the first tour-type Modified cars to race weekly in Maine in almost 35 years. The athletes will represent BRHS on the West squads. Women paving the way at Wiscasset Speedway in 2025 During the off-season, it was announced that both Amara Parker and Maddy Herrick, two accomplished weekly champions at the neighboring Oxford Plains Speedway, would be joining the pack at Wiscasset Speedway this season. These talented women join a growing list of females that have tried their hand at Maine’s biggest and fastest speedway. Easter Eggstravaganza April 19 Meet the Easter Bunny! Please bring the kids to the Boothbay Region Fire Auxiliary’s free Easter Eggstravaganza at the Boothbay Fire Department, Route 27, Boothbay on Saturday, April 19. The fun begins at 1 p.m. - rain or shine - the hunts, outdoor games and face painting, too. There will be separate Easter egg hunts for older and younger kids, and prizes for finding the Golden Eggs. Another is looking toward re-joining the ranks of varsity baseball. Maine high school baseball workouts began indoors March 31 as Boothbay and Wiscasset began pre-season drills. Over $3K raised during Leprechaun Leap The 24th Leprechaun Leap happened on Monday, March 17 at Hendricks Head beach on a rainy St Patrick’s Day. It was a 50 degrees but the water, at 38 degrees, was the warmest ever. Crate Modifieds join lineup at Wiscasset Speedway in 2025 Wiscasset Speedway has a knack for making racing bigger and better with each and every passing year. This off-season was no exception with the addition of the Davis Erector Group Crate Modifieds to the already action-packed Group 1 lineup. The division has been a work in progress for some time now, as track owner Richard Jordan manifested the idea with the purchase of a fleet of Crate Modifieds a handful of years back. Fans got their first taste of the cars at last season’s Fall Fury event with a 25-lap… Stellar weekend for Edgecomb athlete Josee Winston-Feder, an 8th grader from Edgecomb, competed this weekend in the USA Gymnastics Maine State Championship Meet in Augusta. She won first place in both floor routine (meet high score of 9.75) and beam (9.375). She finished second overall in the championships for her division.… BRHS Alumni basketball game: Fun and fruitful While the serious games were on TV this weekend, the exhibition basketball game on Saturday morning at Boothbay Region High School brought lots of laughs and lots of money for the Class of 2025’s Project Graduation trip to Boston in June. Seahawks crush faculty in Unified leisure play The Boothbay Region High School (BRHS) Seahawks beat the Seahawk faculty in leisure Unified basketball on Thursday, March 13, 39-18. Senior Eddie Carpenter was honored as the sole graduating Seahawk on the team’s senior day. Classmates, teachers, parents and dedicated fans were on hand to celebrate Carpenter’s legacy, including Unified alum Austin Orne. However, shortly after tipoff, the gloves were off, and team Teachers double and triple-teamed Carpenter for most of the game. Officer Brown squares off against record-breaking Dolphin swimmer Spring is finally on the horizon and that can only mean one thing. It’s time again for Boothbay Region High School (BRHS) senior Hannah Hills, 17, and Police Officer Larry Brown, who will be 72 on March 17, to face off for their 5th annual swimming competition. It all started in 2019 when the then 12-year-old Hills and Brown challenged each other to a mile swim in honor of Brown’s birthday. Hills won. The pair have competed since, sometimes adjusting the terms to accommodate for Brown's past shoulder and knee surgeries. LCTV announces its 2025 Midcoast Invitational Senior High School Basketball Classic In celebration of an outstanding high school basketball season in our area, LCTV is holding its annual Invitational Midcoast Senior High School Basketball Classic on Friday, March 14 at Medomak Valley High School Gymnasium, Manktown Road, Waldoboro. The Classic is one of the last opportunities for many of our region’s senior student basketball players to face each other on the hardwood courts. Teams will be exclusively comprised of regional players from Wiscasset, Lincoln… Seahawks tie Bulldogs in Unified basketball The Boothbay Region High School Seahawks took on the Bulldogs of Hall Dale in their final regular season game, Tuesday. March 11 at home. The game, close throughout, ended in a 73-73 tie. Eddie Carpenter for the Seahawks and Justin Cole for the Bulldogs tipped off play with first possession going to the Bulldogs for a layup. Carpenter scored first for the Seahawks with a bank shot. The game remained close throughout the first half, with a 39-35 Bulldogs advantage at halftime. Seahawks praise indoor track performances Family and friends peppered the bleachers at the Boothbay Region High School gymnasium to celebrate the Seahawks indoor track team March 10. And they had a lot to celebrate. “The indoor season was fantastic,” said coach Nick Scott. “We have had a really robust and varied level of competition throughout the entire season.” Seahawks fall to Eagles in Unified play Boothbay Region High School (BRHS) Seahawks lost to the Lincoln Academy (LA) Eagles, 89-82, in a close game on the road Monday, March 10. Seahawks have lost back-to-back matchups against LA, the first last Thursday. Seahawks will celebrate Eddie Carpenter on Senior Day, tomorrow, Tuesday, March 11, at home versus Hall-Dale at 3:30, their last official game of the season, before enjoying a Thursday, March 13 leisure matchup, against BRHS faculty and staff. Tipoff for this game is at 1:30.
