This week at the Harbor Theater
"Jurassic World: Rebirth" - (PG13; 2 hours, 14 minutes) - A standalone sequel marking the seventh installment in the Jurassic saga, Jurassic World: Rebirth picks up five years after Dominion as the planet’s remaining dinosaurs are confined to isolated equatorial zones. Scarlett Johansson stars as Zora Bennett, a former military operative leading a covert team on a high-stakes mission: recover genetic material from the world’s last giant dinosaurs—Mosasaurus, Titanosaurus, and a colossal flying Quetzalcoatlus—believed to hold the cure for heart disease. The expedition lands on a remote island ruled by mutated dinosaur hybrids, including the terrifying “Distortus rex” and winged “Mutadons.” It’s a thrilling ride—part action-packed adventure, part genetic ethics thriller—anchored by Johansson’s dynamic performance. Wednesday, July 30, 2 p.m. (OCAP), Thursday, July 31 at 7 p.m.
"F1 – The Movie" - (PG-13; 2 hours 36 minutes) - From Apple Original Films and the visionary team behind Top Gun: Maverick comes "F1: The Movie" — a pulse-pounding, high-octane thrill ride starring Brad Pitt and directed by Joseph Kosinski. Sonny Hayes (Pitt) was once Formula 1's most electrifying rising star—until a devastating crash ended his meteoric rise. Three decades later, he’s a nomadic racer-for-hire, called back to the sport by former teammate Ruben Cervantes (Javier Bardem), whose struggling team is teetering on the edge of collapse. With nothing left to lose, Sonny climbs back into the cockpit for one final shot at greatness—alongside rookie phenom Joshua Pearce (Damson Idris), whose ambition burns just as hot. But in the cutthroat world of Formula 1, teammates are rivals, speed is survival, and redemption doesn’t come easy. Shot during real Grand Prix weekends, F1: The Movie delivers breathtaking realism, raw intensity, and visceral trackside action—capturing the drama, danger, and legacy of the fastest sport on Earth. With a powerhouse creative team including Hans Zimmer (composer), Claudio Miranda (cinematographer), and Lewis Hamilton as producer, this is more than just a racing movie—it’s a cinematic adrenaline rush. Buckle up. The comeback of the century is about to begin. Plays at 7 p.m. Friday, Aug. 1; Saturday, Aug. 2; Monday, Aug. 4 p.m.; Tuesday, Aug. 5, Thursday, Aug. 7; plays at 2 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 3 and Wednesday, Aug. 6, 2 p.m. (OCAP).
“Sonny’s quest to prove his doubters wrong resembles the arc of many a sports drama. But Kosinski elevates that journey by capturing racing in all of its gorgeous, peculiar glory -- there’s never been a portrait of Formula One quite like it.” – David Sims, The Atlantic
“Pitt’s performance is leathery, lived-in. He takes what could have been a clichéd role and adds some soul.” – Bill Goodykoontz, Arizona Republic
