Boothbay selectmen table proposed notice of violation fine
Boothbay selectmen tabled a proposed notice of violation July 23 due to receiving "insufficient background." The board reviewed Code Enforcement Officer Dan Feeney's letter sent June 5 to property owner Robert Reed regarding his 323 West Side Road property. Town Manager Dan Bryer prefaced the proposed notice of violation saying "this has been a problem for years" in that several letters sought a property clean-up which went unanswered. "We thought this might start a clean-up," Bryer said.
Feeney sent Reed a notice of violation in January 2024. Selectmen were asked to impose a fine but tabled a decision until they received more information. "There is no information here in front of me except for the letter," Chairman Chuck Cunningham said. "I'd like to see some history regarding this before making a decision." Selectmen Dale Harmon and Russ Pinkham agreed.
In other action, selectmen conditionally approved a temporary extension of premises liquor license renewal for Coastal Maine Botanical Gardens. The board also approved two permits for new piers. Tracy and Travis Heiser received a permit to build a pier at their Steves Road location. MaineLandia LLC of Boothbay received approval to build a pier at their Ardan Road location.
Selectmen meet next at 6 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 13 in the conference room.
