As August rolls into town, the activities at SYC begin to ramp up. The past weekend we enjoyed a delicious lobster bake organized by Nancy Doyle, our new social chair. Nancy and her team decked out the lawn and buildings and prepared delicious desserts for all to enjoy. The Seguin Island Trophy Race also took place on Saturday with two classses of boats on the line.

Looking head to this week we have junior sailors competing in Portland at Maine State 420 Championships and the 12th Annual Rock the Boat 5K on Saturday morning. Registration closes Friday at 5 p.m. but runners/walkers may register on Sunday morning for an added fee. Please bring cash or check. We still need a few pies and help keeping the course safe. Here is a link to sign up to help make the event a success. After the race on Saturday, please join us for the Pratt’s Island Turnabout Race at 1:00 pm.

Sunday, Aug. 3 is our first annual trivia night. We will meet at 7 p.m. to enhance our knowledge of trivia while also raising money for the Southport Island Association. This is going to be great social event for young, old and in between. We promise we won’t ask too may geography questions! A donation of $10 is appreciated.
