BRWD to compete in National Water Taste Test
Boothbay Region Water District (BRWD) is heading to Capitol Hill Feb. 4 to compete in the National Rural Water Association (NRWA)’s 27th annual Great American Water Taste Test (GAWTT). BRWD will compete against representatives from 40 other states.
"It's a great honor to represent the Boothbay Region Water District on a national stage. This recognition reflects the daily efforts of our entire team to protect our source of supply and deliver safe, sufficient, high-quality drinking water to our community," wrote General Manager Weston Alley in a statement to the Register. Alley and BRWD crew members will travel to D.C. to represent the district in person.
As reported in the Register, BRWD previously won Best Tasting Water during Maine Rural Water Association’s 45th annual conference in December. During the competition, state water districts were pitted against one another in two categories: water treated with a disinfectant (such as chlorine) and water without a disinfectant. BRWD won the disinfectant title by a half-point. The winners then competed in a final round, and BRWD was declared the overall champion.
