Appalled and disgusted
Dear Editor:
To put it bluntly, I am appalled and disgusted by the ongoing events that are occurring daily due to the cruel and short-sided policies of the Trump administration. It's difficult to know how to protest against such tyrannical policies, but, in honor of Martin Luther King Jr.'s ethic of nonviolent dissent, I suggest we each seriously consider how to peacefully object now.
Whether you research who to vote for next November that aligns with your values … and then help support their campaigns, physically or financially, or perhaps you might cancel that vacation to a warm state that does not support civil rights, which are human rights. We need people to not just care but to take concrete actions such as boycotting corporations and states that are supporting oppressive policies that are taking our rights away. Even Second Amendment proponents should be concerned that concealed carry permits … even though legal in many states … are now a reason for ICE agents to overreact. Please pay attention.
