This week at the Lincoln Theater
Boston Camerata - "Sing We Noel" - A much-loved Camerata holiday program returns two generations later! We celebrate Christmas in the English speaking world down through the centuries, with wonderful songs and carols from the Middle Ages to the Renaissance to early America. While most music presented here is artmusic — transcribed from old manuscripts and prints — the means of expression are generally direct and simple, with a strong folk and popular vein. Camerata’s top soloists, voices and instruments, offer a unique experience at year’s end. Thursday, Dec. 4 at 3 p.m. Tickets: $40.
"The Asphalt Jungle" - (1950; 1 hour, 52 minutes) - Recently released from prison, Dix Handley (Sterling Hayden) concocts a plan to steal $1 million in jewels. Dix gathers a team of small-time crooks, including a safecracker (Anthony Caruso) and a lawyer (Louis Calhern), and the heist is a success until a stray bullet kills one of the men. As they scramble to pick up the pieces after the theft, the men let their greed get the best of them while entangling themselves in webs of deceit, treachery and murder. John Huston directs this grandaddy of all heist films starring Sterling Hayden and Marilyn Monroe. Nominated for Best Director, Best Screenplay, Best Supporting Actor and Best Cinematography. Playing Thursday, Dec. 4 at 7 p.m. and Friday, Dec. 5 at 2 p.m. Tickets: $10 adult, $7 LT members and Youth. FREE for Classic Film Club Members. Lincoln Theater’s Classic Film Club is generously sponsored by Drum & Drum Real Estate.
"Blue Moon" - (R; 1 hour, 40 minutes) - Richard Linklater's Blue Moon tells the story of legendary lyricist Lorenz Hart (Ethan Hawke) bravely facing the future as his professional and private life unravel at the opening night party for his former partner's hit show Oklahoma! By the time this night is over, Hart will have confronted both a world that no longer values his talent and the seeming impossibility of love. Playing Friday, Dec. 5 at 7 p.m.; Saturday, Dec. 6 at 7 p.m.; Sunday, Dec 7 at 2 p.m.; Wednesday, Dec. 10 at 2 and 7 p.m.; and Thursday, Dec. 11 at 2 PM. Presented in partnership with Macadamia.
"The Magic Flute" - Holiday Encore - (1 hour, 40 minutes ) - The Met made history in December 2006 when it presented its first Live in HD transmission to movie theaters worldwide—the abridged English-language version of Mozart’s The Magic Flute. This holiday season, the opera returns to select movie theaters in a special encore presentation. Playing Sat Dec 6 at 1 PM. Tickets: $15 Adult, $13 LT Member, $5 Youth.

After a cargo ship sinks in the middle of the vast Pacific Ocean, a 16-year-old boy named Pi is stranded on a lifeboat with four other survivors – a hyena, a zebra, an orangutan and a Royal Bengal tiger. Time is against them, nature is harsh, who will survive?
