"Fantasia" - (G; 2 hours) - Free screening! - The second film in the free summer film series: "Color Our World!" presented in collaboration with Skidompha Library, and inspired by their Summer Reading Program. Before each screening, join us in the theater lobby at noon for a special activity hosted by Skidompha—fun for all ages! Released in 1940, represented Disney's boldest experiment to date. Bringing to life his vision of blending animated imagery with classical music. What had begun as a vehicle to enhance Mickey Mouse's career blossomed into a full-blown feature that remains unique in the history of animation. Sunday, July 20 at 1 p.m. Doors open at noon.
Talking Aquaculture in Maine: "Climate of Change: Aquaculture for People and Planet" - Free - Lincoln Theater's Talking Aquaculture in Maine series is pleased to welcome Island Institute for their premiere screening of “Aquaculture for People and Planet,” the latest short film in Island Institute's Climate of Change series. Stick around after the screening for a discussion with local aquaculturists and Island Institute staff, led by Island Institute Director of the Center for Marine Economy, Sam Belknap, with special guests Krista Tripp, Aphrodite Oysters; Noah Oppenheim, Homarus Strategies; and Sam Feldman, Island Institute. "Far Out: Life On and After the Commune" - (NR; 1 hour, 25 minutes) - The documentary paints an intimate portrait of how this group of artists and activists dealt with the pressing issues of the day–gay and women’s rights, sexual freedom, nuclear power, raising children, the role of the family–to the realities of life, relationships and money in an anarchic communal setting. Following the film, join filmmaker Charles Light along with special guests Verandah Porche (poet & commune resident) and Patty Carpenter (music composer & performer) for a post-screening discussion.
