Three things
Politics. I am not a fan. I attended Boys State, the American Legion program for high school juniors where I learned about state government, how elections were done, building a party plank, how bills were constructed and passed, etc. This was back in June 1974 and I found it informative and fun, meeting new people and more. However, two months later, our president resigned over Watergate. That started the ball rolling in the gutter for me regarding politics and, although I vote every year and keep informed, I have become more and more disinterested about entering into politics. No thanks.
Speaking of 1974, I am looking forward to diving into our digital archives (maybe finding my Boys State announcement!) which are now available through the Maine State Museum’s digital archive. More information is forthcoming on how that can be done as our wonderful volunteers have worked hard this winter getting about 50% of our history scanned.
She did it again! My wife’s NCAA bracket was better than mine again. Not to begrudge her, but she normally picks the higher seeds through the first couple of rounds. That is my downfall. I chose a couple of #12 seeds to upset #5 seeds and she took the #5 seeds. That proved the difference as, of the 63 possible picks, she defeated me by three. She had 17 wrong and I had 20. In any case, it is a fun competition and we enjoyed watching the tournament.
Have a great week.
