Southport selectmen seek mailing address for property owner
If you have a mailing address for Mark Huskins, then the Southport selectboard would like to talk to you. On July 30, selectmen discussed contacting Huskins, who owns property in Southport previously owned by his father. "We are searching for a mailing address because it's going into lien," Chairman Gerry Gamage said. "His father has died, and the son now owns the property and we can't contact him without an address." Gamage believes Huskins may live in New Hampshire.
In other action, the board received a mailing with a large document from Maine Community Media Association. There was no accompanying paperwork indicating the large document's contents. Selectmen didn't request any information from MCMA or hear of it. The board tabled discussion until Selectman Smith Climo reviewed the materials and reported back.
MCMA's website reports the association reorganized in 2021 to replace Community Television Association of Maine. "Our goal was to open the organization up to new venues for delivering media content. We are a networking organization for community television stations, municipalities, and producers in Maine. We are awaiting approval of our 501(C)4 non-profit status. We assist towns in Maine with their public, educational, and governmental television channels," read the message.
Maine Municipal Association will inspect municipal properties on Friday, Aug. 7 regarding insurance protection. Gamage reported MMA informed the board of the impending visit. MMA insures Southport's town hall, public works, fire station, library and museum.
Gamage announced the town is negotiating with Lincoln County Sheriff's Department about an animal control agreement. Climo said negotiations would likely discuss an officer's hourly wage and an annual fee paid to the county.
Selectmen meet next at 5 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 6 in the town hall.
