Skidompha Strummers concert Aug. 30
Saturday, Aug. 30 is International Play Music on the Porch Day, and the Skidompha Strummers, the ukulele ensemble of Skidompha Public Library, will mark the day with a public concert under the portico at the library’s front door.
Their program will begin at 10:30 a.m. It’s free and open to all, and will include a variety of familiar popular songs. The library is located at 184 Main St. in downtown Damariscotta.
If the weather isn’t suitable for outdoor entertainment, the program will move to the library’s atrium.
The ensemble, which was formed in 2017, has 19 members from Damariscotta and the surrounding towns. They practice at the library every Thursday from 3 to 5 p.m. All ukulele players who know a few basic chords and strumming patterns are invited to join, and practices are open to the public.
Anyone with a Skidompha library card may borrow a uke from the library’s collection.
