BHSD to enter Butler Road housing project
Boothbay Harbor Sewer District (BHSD) trustees Aug. 12 approved an easement deed for the affordable housing project on Butler Road. The easement is just to allow BHSD onto the property, according to operator-in-charge Chris Higgins. Eventually, any main trunk line sewers will be the district’s once they accept the development into the sewer system.
Trustees also passed a motion to approve installing a two-inch force main line from neighboring Bristol Marine’s facility to Sea Street for future use.
In other business, BHSD is trying to establish where the edge of the “right of way” is on Roads End so it can move its electrical control panel closer to its sanitary sewer wet well. In addition to the distance problem, the aging panel can't have new wire pulled in its conduits. According to Higgins, the issue may have to be elevated to court for a judge to determine.
Bristol Marine recently granted an easement to Central Maine Power, which will allow for BHSD to have underground wiring work completed. There was a prior easement, but that only applied to overhead lines.
Trustees also voted to accept the funding package from USDA Rural Development, first introduced at their July 1 meeting, for the sea wall construction project. This totaled about $3.83 million in loans and $400,000 in grant money.
