A Storybook Ball with a happy ending
Boothbay Harbor Memorial Library’s second annual Storybook Ball fundraiser was an absolute delight for everyone who embraced the topsy-turvy “Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland” themed evening.
Guests were greeted by friends, neighbors, and fellow library patrons dressed both formally and in creative costumes clearly ready to have a very merry party! Although there were several Queen of Hearts in attendance, not one commanded “Off with their heads!” as they were catered to by the gracious staff of Mine Oyster and Carousel Music Theater’s talented cast, all dressed and in-character. You know you are going to have fun when Tweedle Dee and Tweedle Dum usher you into your parking spot.
We are thrilled to announce that this year’s Storybook Ball raised over $37,000 for the library's Annual Fund! As a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, BHML’s Annual Fund supplies over 40% of the library’s annual operating budget to provide free, year-round services to the Boothbay Region.
Thanks to Storybook Ball sponsors who made this possible! Presenting sponsors: Ryder Systems and R.M. Davis Private Wealth Management; White Rabbit sponsors: J. Edward Knight and Tindal & Callahan; Mad Hatter sponsors: First National Bank and First National Wealth Management, Griffin & Harris, and Two Salty Dogs; Cheshire Cat sponsors: Bath Savings Institution, Colby & Gale, Jordan Construction, and Knickerbocker Group; In-kind sponsors: Carousel Music Theater, Conley’s Garden Center & Landscaping, Gudroe Technology Group, Page Brown Photography, Pine State Trading Co., and Valley Beverage.
In addition to event sponsors, dozens of individuals and businesses donated goods and services for the live and online auction that contributed to this fundraiser's success. Now in its 101st year of service to the Boothbay Region, the library provides an amazing array of services to our community far beyond books on shelves. If you don’t know us yet, please come in; we will happily welcome you to your local “wonderland” of books, magazines, movies, and “things.” Your library card is free and will open doors you cannot even imagine.
To our guests: thank you so much for being part of what made Storybook Ball a truly magical evening for our book and library-loving community. We recognize that you all embraced the topsy-turvy theme and came to play, enjoy, donate, and most importantly celebrate the library as a critical community resource!
