Roadrunners cruise past Seahawks 67-28
The second-seeded Mt. Abram Roadrunners took advantage of a boatload of Seahawk turnovers to improve to 8-2 on the season with a 67-28 win at Boothbay Region High School Thursday night, Jan. 8.
The Seahawks never got started offensively against Mt. Abram, managing only one field goal and two free throws in the first half as they trailed 42-4 after 16 minutes.
Stella Peterson, a 5’9” sophomore, led Mt. Abram, scoring 20 of her game-leading 24 points in the first half. Jenna Osgood, a 5’9” senior, was the Roadrunners’ second leading scorer with 19 and 5’5” senior guard Abby McCarty had three 3-pointers for nine points.
The Seahawks, now 4-5 in Class D South after their fourth straight loss, were led by senior Tatum French with 10 points. French, the team's leading scorer, sat out most of the first half after being charged with two fouls in the first five minutes of the game.
Sophomore Eleanor Erwin scored five points and getting four points each for Boothbay were freshman Aryana Gray and junior Frida Kirchhauser.
The Seahawks are next scheduled to travel to Madison on Saturday, Jan. 10 for a rescheduled game at 4 p.m.
