John Hochstein photoOn April 16, the Pemaquid Chapter, NSDAR daughters donated 20 plus large bags of clothing to New Hope Midcoast and presented them with a $150 check for their April matching donation campaign. Julie Theroux and Joanne Richards of the Lady Knox Chapter joined Audrey Miller, Deborah Olson, Nancy Chick, Jessica Tukey, Diane Randlett and Sue Hochstein in welcoming Hannah Harter-Ives, executive director of New Hope for lunch at Archer’s By The Pier in Rockland.
On April 25, Audrey Miller and Sue Hochstein attended a celebration of life for Louise “Mickey” Brown in Bath. Louise was very active in the Chapter and was the Regent for 10 years.
On April 30, the chapter daughters hosted a tea party at the Wiscasset Congregational Church for the this year’s 4 DAR Good Citizens from high schools in Lincoln County. Tea and assorted goodies were served. The Good Citizens were given a Certificate of Achievement signed by the President General of DAR, a lapel pin, a pocket copy of the U.S. Constitution, a special tea cup keepsake, and a check for $500.
The tea was organized by Deborah Olson who presented the girls with their awards. The Good Citizens are Eleanor Marshall from Boothbay Region High School, Amelia Rice from Lincoln Academy, Lyra Puchalski from Medomak Valley High School. They were accompanied by their mothers Jenny Bennett, Susan Rice and Katlin Puchalski. Olivia Marshall from Wiscasset High School. Olivia will receive her award on June 2 during the school awards night. Those in attendance were Audrey Miller, Nancy Chick, Barbara Belknap, Diane Randlett, Sue Hochstein and HODAR, John Hochstein who along with wife Sue, helped photograph the event.
The next Chapter meeting will be on May 21 at the American Legion Hall, Boothbay at 12:30 p.m. Miranda Dillinger will give a program on Garden Pests, Seeds and Soils.
On June 18, the Chapter daughters will meet at the Pownalborough Courthouse in Dresden at 11 a.m. for a guided tour followed by a tour of the Bowman House and then a picnic lunch.
