'A Peace of Forest' returns to Lincoln Theater
“A Peace of Forest” — the first feature-length wildlife film shot entirely in Maine — returns to Lincoln Theater for a special encore screening on Sunday, Nov. 23 at 2 p.m. The film premiered at Lincoln Theater in June 2024, and now its cinematographers and producers, Lee Ann and Thomas Mark Szelog, are expressing their gratitude for the community’s enthusiastic support by donating 100% of the proceeds from this encore screening to Lincoln Theater’s 150th Birthday celebration.
This husband-and-wife team, often called Maine’s most renowned wildlife photographers, have over 60 years of combined experience capturing wildlife in remote locations using ethical practices. Recipients of the Philip Hyde Award, they promote conservation and environmental awareness through their films, lectures, exhibits, writings, and photographs.
“A Peace of Forest” offers a one-of-a-kind cinematic experience that invites viewers into a wild, peaceful, and mysterious world filled with complex relationships and quiet wonders. The 87-minute film, created in Whitefield, Maine, on just 35 acres of forest land, celebrates the beauty and intimacy of Maine’s wildlife. Lincoln Theter is pleased to welcome the Szelogs back at the encore screening for a Q&A session following the film.
Lincoln Theater’s official 150th Birthday fundraising campaign will begin in 2026. This encore screening is an opportunity to kick off early efforts to raise funds while sharing exciting plans for the theater’s future. Having just completed Phase 1 of the lobby renovations, we are beginning to look ahead to Phase 2, which includes restoring the grand staircase, upgrading concessions, and refreshing the bathrooms and entryways. Additional needs at the theater include repairs to the Main Street marquees and exterior windows, system upgrades, and the introduction of digital membership cards. These projects reflect the theater’s continued investment in preserving its 150-year legacy while creating an even more welcoming experience for the community.
“Relaxing and enjoying the natural and peaceful beauty of the area is a refreshing way to begin the week of Thanksgiving, while at the same time benefitting the Lincoln Theater as they embark on celebrating their 150th anniversary,” stated Lee Ann Szelog. “Let’s fill the house and celebrate all that makes living in Lincoln County so very special, while maximizing the opportunity to support the Lincoln Theater with all ticket sales being donated to the Theater,” said Tom.
Tickets: $20 adult, $15 LT member, and $5 youth and are available online at Lincolntheater.org. Remaining tickets will be sold at the door beginning 30 minutes before showtime. Lincoln Theater is located at 2 Theater St. in the heart of downtown Damariscotta.
