Overdose response and naloxone training Sept. 24, Oct. 15
Naloxone (Narcan nasal spray) is an important first aid medicine that can quickly reverse the effects of an opioid overdose. Keeping a kit nearby could help save the life of a neighbor, friend, or family member in the event of an emergency. This overdose response training will guide you through how to use Narcan in an emergency. The training will also provide background information about opioids, and the context in which Narcan should be used.
This training is offered for free by Healthy Lincoln County, a Tier II distributor of Narcan under Maine’s Naloxone Distribution Initiative. Participants will receive a free kit of Narcan to keep in your first aid kit or in your purse, briefcase, or backpack. Additionally, you will receive supplemental resources to have on hand if you want to review what you learn during the live training. Please join us and learn how you can be a first aider and help save a life.
Healthy Lincoln County is offering two one-hour trainings in partnership with Edgecomb Community Church. The first will take place on Wednesday, Sept. 24 and the second will be on Wednesday Oct. 15. Both trainings will begin at 6 p.m.
Light refreshments will also be served. Edgecomb Community Church is located at 15 Cross Point Road in Edgecomb.
