Gale E. Hodgdon
With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Gale Ellen Hodgdon, who left this world on Dec. 11, 2025, surrounded by the love that she so generously gifted to others.
Born on Aug. 31, 1954, in Boothbay Harbor to Merle and Evelyn (Grant) Hyson, Gale grew up in the picturesque Boothbay region, where her heart would forever remain. She was a devoted daughter, sister, mother, and grandmother.
Gale graduated as valedictorian from Boothbay Region High School, followed by her pursuit of a college certificate from the Auburn Maine School of Commerce. For over 50 years, Gale dedicated her time and spirit to Mill Cove Lobster Pound, becoming a beloved member of the community.
A passionate soul, Gale found pure joy in the simple pleasures of life - camping and boating on Damariscove, where laughter echoed over the waves. She cherished every moment spent with her family, all of whom brought her boundless joy in their laughter and adventures.
Gale is now reunited with her husband, C. Stephen "Beaver" Hodgdon Jr., brother Gordon Hyson, her loving parents, Merle and Evelyn, and in-laws Larry Andrews, Francis Pelletier, C. Stephen Hodgdon Sr. and Florence.
She leaves behind a loving family, including her sons C. Stephen “Stevie” Hodgdon III and partner Tara Dostie of Boothbay, Caleb Hodgdon of Boothbay, and her daughter Amy Mitchell and husband Chris of Damariscotta; daughter-in-law Sarah Hodgdon of Boothbay; grandchildren Hayden, Ben, Emelia, Jackson, Mason, Jordan, and Jazmine; significant other Fred Farnham; sister Gloria Pelletier of Augusta; in-laws Debra Andrews of Boothbay, Mary and Munro Dodge of Boothbay, Tracey and Richard Hyson of Boothbay, Kevin and Cathy Hodgdon of Boothbay and Laura Livingston of Boothbay; her best friend Rose Hodgdon; along with many nieces, nephews, cousins, and her extended work family at Mill Cove, each carrying a piece of her spirit within them.
A graveside service will be held on Thursday, Dec. 18 at 1 p.m. at Evergreen Cemetery on Barters Island Road in Boothbay.
Arrangements are under the care and direction of Hall Funeral Home of Boothbay. To extend a condolence or share a story with the Hodgdon family, please visit Gale's Book of Memories at www.hallfuneralhomes.com
