3 Boothbay star athletes advancing to collegiate level
March 19 was a day to recognize the achievements of three incredible Boothbay Region High School athletes and wish them success in their collegiate careers. BRHS hosted a signing ceremony for seniors Rose Campbell, Tatum French and Griffin Yereance, who signed commitment letters to play in the collegiate ranks. Campbell will run track for Bowdoin College in Brunswick. French will play basketball for Central Maine Community College in Auburn. Yereance will play tennis for Susquehanna University in Selinsgove, Pennsylvania.
Athletic Director Allan Crocker remarked prior to the ceremony very few BRHS athletes play at the next level. He estimated "5-10% moved on to playing college athletics with the number probably closer to five."
The Class of 2026 has three seniors moving on to the college ranks. Campbell has competed in four indoor and three outdoor track seasons. Her career highlights include qualifying all four years in the 55M state indoor championships. She finished fifth in her junior year. She also qualified twice in the 200M and once in the 400M dash.
She is the current record holder in the 55M and 200M dash. Campbell was a member of the school record-setting relay teams 4X200M and sprint medley. She is a three-time most valuable player and Coach's Award recipient.
In outdoor track, Campbell received five All-conference recognitions and qualified for the state championships nine times in four events. She finished in the Top 5 in the state discus in 2025. French was an outstanding two-sport athlete. In field hockey, she earned two defensive team MVPs. But her best athletic performance was on the basketball court. She is one of two BRHS girls' basketball players to reach the 700-700 club (700 career points and 700 career rebounds). According to Crocker, French set the regular season game record for points and rebounds. French also captained this season's team which qualified for the tournament. It was the Lady Seahawks' first appearance since 2021.
She was the team captain this season. She is a two-time team MVP. She twice received nominations to the All-MVC team. French participated in the MVC Senior All-star game and Senior McDonalds' All-star games.
Yereance is a rare breed of athlete who is an excellent football and tennis player. He made the all-conference football team. In all three of his tennis seasons, he was named to the MVC All-Conference team. He has amassed a 30-3 career record. Yereance also reached the Round of 52 in the state's singles tournament.
