Ocean Point Column: Many activities
We seem to be racing through July at warped speed however; the weather is anything but summer-like.
How wonderful to see so many Ocean Point families together vacationing.
Despite the weather, Ocean Pointers are enjoying the many activities.
Thanks to Liz Dawson for hosting S’mores night last week, the weather cooperated which certainly helped.
Last Monday evening was an exciting one as we gathered at the Casino to root on "American Ninja Warrior" contestant Abby Clark. Abby effortlessly sailed through the quarterfinals in Vegas and is on to the semifinals at the end of the month. As of this writing the date has not been announced but I will keep you posted. Congratulations Abby.
Thank you to Jim and Lisa Rush for organizing the Left Right Center last Tuesday evening that was enjoyed by all who attended.
Chef Matt Martin shared his expertise in the culinary department last Wednesday and guided us through how to make homemade pasta from scratch. Like many of you, I make pasta but with the aid of a pasta machine. So being married to someone of Italian decent this was a skill I’ve always wanted to accomplish. Thank you Matt for sharing your time and talent.
Last Thursday evening we all gathered to listen to Marsha Knauff Donald and Bibbs Adams Fowler share their childhood memories summering at Ocean Point. Marsha and Bibbs recalled many interesting and fun facts about those days gone by sharing treasured moments with Ocean Point friends. Thank you to Jeff Slayton who moderated the event.
Ginny Yerrall and Barb Slayton once again organized a successful Bake Sale last Friday with many yummy food items and lots of great raffle and silent auction prizes. Thank you also to the many volunteers: Ginny Rush, Maureen Bennett, Cookie Dana Deb Heist and Lisa Rush and thank you to those who donated prizes and food items.
The Pancake Breakfast was well attended last Saturday morning organized by the Driscoll Family. Thank you to the kitchen crew: Cara Pond, Tim Mahoney, Sean Raymond and Dylan Driscoll. Caroline Driscoll manned the door and a big thank you to the following capable wait staff: James and Ciara Rush, Adison and Chloe Butler, Emmalin and Bryson Nichols, Lenny Berg, Louie Raymond, Everett Kaler, Liam Robbins, Maisie and Seamus Mahoney.
Thank you to Ginna Yerrall for organizing the delicious Barbecue Dinner catered by the Footbridge BBQ. I understand the event was well attended and enjoyed by all.
Sunday softball found Team Nichols defeating Team Dawson 8-3.
Immediately following the game the Brown family hosted the ball game grill in honor of their dad Jim. Jim, as many of you recall, spent many a Wednesday evening teaching our younger generation the game of softball. It was wonderful to see all of Jim’s family gathered enjoying their time here at the Point. Thanks to those who donated food items.
An All Star watch party is planned for Tuesday night, July 15 beginning at 8 at the Casino.
Wednesday, July 16 is a busy day. A Mosaic Jewelry class will take place at 9 a.m. followed by a children’s’ story hour at 10.
Abby and Tim are organizing the Scavenger Hunt at 5 and Donna Logan will once again host the Ladies Bunco that same evening at7. Sign up for this event is on the board at the Casino.
The Casino will be closed on Friday, July 18 for the day, as the Garden Club will be utilizing the facility for their house tour.
Calling all golfers to sign up for the OP Memorial tournament on Saturday, July 19 beginning sharply at 8 a.m. Sign up as an individual or a foursome, the sheet with all of the details is posted on the bulletin board.
The Rev. Tom Lenhart, Resident Theologian, UCC, First Church, Ipswich, Massachusetts will conduct Sunday Services at the Wilson Chapel on July 20. All are welcome.
Congratulations to Jack Kaler for his first place win in the East Coast Clash Tournament held at Roger Williams University in Rhode Island.
Next Sunday night the Raymond Family will host a movie night on their lawn.
The ladies Porch Party is on Tuesday at 5:30; bring an appetizer to share and your beverage of choice.
