Burnt Island Lighthouse tours return for 2025 season
Burnt Island Lighthouse tours are now open for the 2025 season.
Steve McCullough and other volunteers from the Department of Marine Resources, and the Keepers of Burnt Island Light, will be on hand to offer tours. Steve lived on Burnt Island from 1959-1962 when his dad James was the lighthouse keeper. If you are ready to learn about the life and times of a lighthouse family prior to electrification, Steve is ready to share his vivid memories and stories of managing the lamp in the Fresnel lens, and operating the mechanics in the bell tower. Volunteers will also tour you through the recently restored lighthouse, keeper’s dwelling, and museum.
