BRWD talks website updates, maintenance
Boothbay Region Water District (BRWD)’s website is getting an update, General Manager Weston Alley told trustees Jan. 27.
Staff are trying to make it easier for the public to keep updated on the district’s latest information. This includes sections on conservation concerns, invasive species, sediment erosion control, native plants and water quality projects. "It's probably going to double the size of our website,” said Alley. It was unknown when this information will be uploaded.
In other business, BRWD is exploring options to replace a broken mixer in one of its water tanks. The mixer helps prevent ice build-up and keeps the water from becoming stagnant.
One option is draining the tank, rendering it unusable for two to four days, and then doing the procedural bacteria tests once it's refilled. Another option is to contract with a diver who can enter the full tank (after being disinfected) to install the new mixer.
The mixer has been broken for about four weeks as of Jan. 27, and Alley assumed there was likely three feet of ice build-up in the tank.
