Historical displays and cookout food were the highlights of Boothbay Region Ambulance Service’s open house celebrating its 50th anniversary on Friday afternoon, Aug. 7, from 3 to 6 p.m.

With an ambulance’s lights blinking at the entrance of the driveway at the Route 27 facility in Boothbay to draw people to the open house, BRAS personnel were on hand to give tours of the building and answer any questions visitors might have.

Manning the grill with hot dogs and hamburgers was Southport Fire Chief Gerry Gamage, assisted by Damariscotta Fire Chief John Roberts. Roberts is the husband of BRAS’s EMS Chief Kristen Roberts.

Two of the early arrivals to the event were Jon and Cindy Smith of Southport, who were original volunteers of the service.
