Barter wins Last Sunday Cook-Off at Brady’s
An outstanding Meatball Cook-Off was held at Brady’s at 25 Union Street the Sunday, Dec. 28, the very last Sunday of the year. The tradition began five years ago with a Mini -Weenie contest and has continued every year.
This year’s judges took their task to heart with Olympic Judge Elliott Schwartz leading the crew. Larry Knapp, Stan Hornsby, Kathy Boyd and Mike Mejia spent over an hour testing, critiquing, and singing the praises of all the 13 contestants who dared to bare their cooking skills to the professionals. In the end, David Barter came out on top with the judges with his “French Onion Meatballs.”
This was the third Judges award given to Barter since the inception of the event. The “People’s Choice Award” went to "Super" Dave Warford, with his “Hoisin Glazed Meatball.” This was Super Dave’s third People’s Choice, and he has also won Judges before. It appears Last Sunday Cook – Offs at Brady’s are dominated by Daves!
Next year’s event has already been discussed by most of the competitors and the trash talking has begun! (before the meatballs were even cold!)
