St. Andrews Auxiliary photoSpring was in the air Friday night, May 1 at our St. Andrews Auxiliary Thrift Shop as Auxiliary officers presented a second round of donations to support the medical community. Our volunteers witnessed the outcome of hours upon hours of daily work going into the hands of medical professionals whose organizations provide vital health services in our area. St. Andrews Auxiliary has given a total of $125,933.00 in donations and scholarships just this past fiscal year.
Auxiliary President Patty Colhoun summed up the evening’s festivities. “I was very happy to see all the representatives from MaineHealth who came to support the recipients of the spring gifts. This is the reason we operate our St. Andrews Auxiliary Thrift Shop - so that we may support the organizations in need. The members of the St. Andrews Auxiliary enjoyed the time to visit and see how well the Thrift Shop is prepared to serve the community.”
In addition to the spring donations, the Auxiliary presented an art exhibit for their guests, featuring the works of local artist Ellen Hutcheson. The large, colorful collection includes many recognizable scenes from the coastal region. It was recently a generous donation from the artist’s family.
Auxiliary members Marion Coleman and Ann Hedgecock prepared the large display and six Ellen Hutcheson pieces were gifted to MaineHealth Primary Care Waldoboro in honor of their recent grand opening. Accepting the artwork was Marva Nesbit, MaineHealth Lincoln Hospital Board Member and Philanthropy Chair. Marva also gave a special tribute to Reven Oliver for her work in the Philanthropy Office of MHLH. Reven has advised the Auxiliary about MaineHealth for several years as a guest member of the St. Andrews Auxiliary Board. The Hutcheson art exhibit will continue throughout the spring so that all our customers and members will have a chance to enjoy it.
The Social Committee led by Abby Shaw offered up a Thrift Shop special door prize and a tempting buffet of food and drink for all . . . it was definitely a spring evening to remember!
