"Toy Story 5" - (PG; 1 hour, 42 minutes) - The toys are back in Disney and Pixar’s Toy Story 5, and this time it’s Toy meets Tech. Woody (voice of Tom Hanks), Buzz Lightyear (voice of Tim Allen), Jessie (voice of Joan Cusack) and the rest of the gang's jobs are challenged when they come face-to-face with Lilypad (voice of Greta Lee), a brand-new tablet device that arrives with her own disruptive ideas about what is best for their kid, Bonnie. Will playtime ever be the same? Toy Story 5 is directed by Academy Award® winner Andrew Stanton, co-directed by Kenna Harris, produced by Lindsey Collins, p.g.a., and written by Stanton and Harris from a story by Stanton. The film features an original score by Oscar® winner Randy Newman, who returns to score his fifth Toy Story feature. "100 Years On Route One: A Centennial Road Trip" - A member's free event! - Harbor Theater will celebrate its members with the first of its popular biannual Members Free events on Sunday, June 28. The evening will feature a special screening of Maine U.S. 1, 1926–2026: A Centennial Road Trip, the latest work from acclaimed National Geographic photographer, filmmaker, and Boothbay Harbor resident Bob Krist.
Originally broadcast on Maine PBS in March, in the 74-minute documentary Krist takes us on a journey along the entire length of Maine’s iconic Route 1, from Kittery to Fort Kent, in search of the authentic people, places, and traditions that make the highway far more than just a line on a map. Along the way, he captures the stories and character of each location that have made Route 1 a vital artery connecting communities for generations.
Krist will introduce the film and remain for an informal audience Q&A afterward, offering attendees a chance to hear firsthand about the making of the documentary and the remarkable people and places encountered along the route. Doors open at 5 p.m. with a complimentary wine and charcuterie reception provided by Pinkham’s Gourmet Market to be served at 5:30 p.m. Film presentation is at 6. Admission is free for Harbor Theater members as a thank-you for their continued support, which helps sustain the nonprofit theater’s year-round programming and special events. Limited seating may be available for non-members at $20 per person.
"1776" - (NR; 2 hours, 21 minutes) - In celebration of America’s 250th birthday, The Community Center invites the public to Harbor Theater for a special evening of history, music, and community. The event features the Tony award-winning movie musical, "1776." Set in Philadelphia during the days leading up to the signing of the Declaration of Independence, "1776" brings the nation’s founding to life with humor, drama, and memorable music.
Nominated by the American Film Institute as one of the greatest movie musicals of all time, "1776" has been praised as “warm, funny, and moving,” making it a fitting tribute to the ideals, personalities, and debates that shaped a new nation. Whether you're a longtime fan or discovering the film for the first time, this one-night-only celebration promises an entertaining and uniquely American evening on Wednesday, July 1. Doors open at 5:30 p.m. with a reception featuring light bites, sweet treats, Patriot Punch, and appearances by colonial reenactors at 6, followed by the film at 6:30. Tickets are $25, with proceeds supporting The Community Center’s vital programs and services for the Boothbay region.
Harbor Theater, at 185 Townsend Ave. in Boothbay Harbor, is open for 2 p.m. matinees on Wednesday (OCAP – Open Caption Screening) and Sunday. Shows Monday through Saturday are at 7 p.m. nightly. Tickets are $12 for adults, $8 for children under 18. Member prices are $8 for adults and $6 for children under 18. ADA-mandated Audio Descriptive (AD) and Closed Caption (CC) devices are available for the visually and hearing-impaired. Inquire at the concession stand.
