Dear Editor:

I am writing to strongly urge my neighbors to vote for Maureen Heffernan for the Edgecomb School Board on Saturday, May 16 from 1 to 7 p.m. in the town hall.  

As an educator for 35 years, I am keenly aware of the need for communities such as ours to elect smart, thoughtful board members with experience in business, non-profits, and financial management. Maureen is just such a person. Her concern for and interest in the success of both students and faculty makes her an excellent candidate for Edgecomb’s School Board.

Maureen will bring fresh eyes to the work of the Board based upon her experience as a CEO of the Park Management Company in Oklahoma and Executive Director of the Coastal Maine Botanical Gardens, as well as educational programs director at Cleveland Botanical Garden and Education Coordinator at American Horticultural Society. She has a keen grasp on the complexities and challenges of managing budgets, working with people from diverse backgrounds, and imagining the creative avenues education will need to take going forward—as well as how to further steer the school along the road into becoming a center for community building.

Please pledge your vote to Maureen Heffernan for board member of the Edgecomb school district.
