Sign Up For Midcoast Sailing Center’s afternoon Adventure

The Sail, Power, and Steam Museum’s Midcoast Sailing Center (MCSC) announces there’s still openings in the afternoon Adventures’ Club youth sailing program.

The week-long Adventurers’ Club will be offered throughout the 2026 summer season for sailors ages 10-16 to get practice on the water. The program will run Monday through Friday from 1-4 p.m. for $200 for the week. Scholarships are available – Midcoast Sailing Center believe cost should never be a barrier for young sailors.

Aspiring ‘Adventurers’ should have had beginning sailing instruction through either SKFF or other similar programs.

The program provides hands-on experience aboard a range of vessels, from 420s and Sunfish to an historic Herreshoff 12 1/2 and modern keel boats like our J22.. Participants will build on foundational skills while developing confidence in a fun, supportive setting while trying out different boats and rigs.

The Adventurers’ Club launches sailors out on the water for lessons in seamanship, rigging, and the art and science of sailing. Over the course of a week, they experience new and exciting challenges, building skills and memories to last a lifetime! The Adventurers’ Club is perfect for young sailors looking to practice sailing, refine their technique, and explore MCSC’s collection of classic and modern boats.

Captain Jim Sharp said, “There are so many kids in our area who don’t have ready access to the water, to lessons, to boats. It is truly a delight to watch these kids learn to sail, get out there and practice in the afternoons, and hone their skills and confidence on the water!”

Midcoast Sailing Center’s programs are diverse and growing with many locals already familiar with the Sail Kids For Free program, and now there’re more advanced youth programs, private lessons, classes, and clinics available

With MCSC’s active boat shop on the shore of Rockland’s working waterfront, the center is uniquely positioned to host sailing programs that reflect the Sail, Power, & Steam Museum’s mission to celebrate, honor, experience, and share the story of Maine’s maritime heritage.

Registration fills up quickly, so reserve your sailor’s spot today at: https://www.midcoastsailingcenter.org and select the Youth Sailing tab.
