Lee R. Dickinson
Lee R. Dickinson, 83, of Boothbay, Maine, passed away peacefully on April 22, 2026, following a stroke.
Born on Aug. 22, 1942, at St. Andrews Hospital in Boothbay Harbor, Lee was the cherished son of Henry and Mildred (Brown) Dickinson. He grew up in the beautiful coastal community of Boothbay Harbor, where he attended local schools and created lifelong memories.
In his early years, Lee answered the call of duty and served his country as a radio operator in the Army during the Vietnam War, traveling through England, Germany and Norway. His service was highlighted by the honors he earned, including the Sharpshooter designation with the M-14 Rifle and the National Defense Service Medal. Lee returned home to embark on a successful career at Donnelley & Sons and as an electrician at Bath Iron Works (BIW), where he was known for his dedication and skill.
Beyond his professional life, Lee was a man of many talents and passions. He found joy in painting, wood carving, gardening, and raising chickens, often sharing the fruits of his labor with family and friends. A nurturing father, loving grandfather, and doting great-grandfather, he leaves behind a legacy filled with love and creativity.
Lee was predeceased by his beloved wife, Sandra Dickinson, in 2015, his brother Peter Dickinson, and sister-in-law Peggy Dickinson.
He is survived by his two sons, Douglas Lee Dickinson and his wife, Laurie Ann, and Scott Eric Dickinson and his wife, Sharleen, all of Boothbay. Lee will be fondly remembered by his grandchildren, Brittany Tilton and her husband Matt, Daniel Dickinson, and Ben Dickinson, as well as his great-grandchildren: Maci, Myles, Hudson, and Finley. He is also survived by his brother Eric Dickinson and his wife, Jenny, of Jacksonville, Florida, brother-in-law Jerry Ambrose and his wife Debbie of East Haddam, Connecticut, and nephew Billy Pokorny of East Haddam, Connecticut.
Lee's warm spirit and legacy will continue to inspire those who knew him. He will be missed dearly, but his memory will live on in the hearts of his family and all who were lucky enough to have known him.
