Thank you BRTV
Dear Editor:
I am writing to express my gratitude to Boothbay Region TV Station (BRTV) for allowing me to shadow their work this school year. Their head Station Manager, Lang Sheppard, was immediately on board when I asked to do a mentorship with them. Since then, I have been a part of everything from live sports broadcasts and community events to assisting in the production of their in-house shows, and most recently, covering the high school’s graduation. The number of skills I’ve learned from shadowing Lang are too many to list, but all are ones I’m grateful for.
Since Boothbay TV covers so many community-based events, I have been able to be a part of things I never would have imagined. I’d say I’m fairly active in the community already, but because of the work I’ve done, I’ve now attended events I didn’t even know were happening.
Before I had this mentorship, I barely knew the TV station existed and had no idea where it was even located. Now, though, I have a newfound appreciation for the work that Boothbay Region TV Station does, and I want to thank them for taking me in, being patient with me, and teaching me so many skills that I otherwise would not have had the chance to learn. After I graduate, I hope to go into film and TV production, so getting these experiences now has helped me beyond comparison.
