Our new beach attendant, Theo, has done a great job clearing the beach of seaweed and keeping on top of the chores at the beach. Don’t forget to introduce yourself to him. Thank you, Theo!
The Opera House at Boothbay Harbor recently welcomed the Steep Canyon Rangers and Sprucewold was well represented in the sold out crowd. Check out the Opera House schedule online, musicians love the intimate setting and the acoustics of the room compared to big concert halls. As an audience we even received compliments from the band for really listening to their music. We should be very proud of such a valuable building in our community and the dedicated group of staff and volunteers the OH has to run it.
If you donate to the St Andrews Auxiliary Thrift Shop please note that the bins behind the small mall shop are gone. All donations must be taken to the front desk at the front door.
Deer have been at the gardens again; right now they like day lily buds, hosta leaves, and solomon seal. I sprayed anti deer and rabbit spray again but it is almost always guaranteed to rain as soon as I spray so I’ll be out there again this afternoon to freshen the deterrent. We have a small doe and a fawn, who are frequently seen about, and recently they were on one side of the road and then I looked and a skunk was on the other side of the road at the bottom of the hill on Lobster Cove Road in broad daylight. I’m glad I wasn’t on foot!
The first Games on the Green began on Friday afternoon with a resounding success for the bocce beginners in the group, The experts were such good instructors that the newbies carried the day. Don’t forget, the next Games on the Green is on Friday from 4 to 6 p.m., July 25, on the former tennis court at the LHA Green. BYOB and whatever else you desire. This week: croquet and corn hole.
Sprucewold directories are still available, please let me know and I can drop one off at your mailbox or your porch.
