Senator Reny announces re-election bid for District 13
Senator Cameron Reny, currently serving her second term in the Maine State Senate, is seeking re-election. Reny represents Senate District 13, which includes most of Lincoln County as well as the towns of Washington (Knox) and Windsor (Kennebec).
Sen. Reny grew up in a working class family in Bristol and graduated from Lincoln Academy. She received her undergraduate degree from Guilford College in North Carolina and a Master's degree in School Counseling from the University of Southern Maine. She has since spent her career in public service, working with Maine children and families as a public school counselor and representing her hometown in Augusta.
“This district means so much to me; it’s where I grew up and where I have chosen to raise my own family,” explained Reny. “I’ve spent my career building strong communities and a good, sustainable future for our children and grandchildren, and look forward to continuing to put this experience to work for us in Augusta.”
Sen. Reny was first elected to the 131st Maine Legislature in November 2022, and re-elected in November 2024. She currently serves on the Appropriations and Financial Affairs Committee and the Joint Standing Committee on Marine Resources.
In her first term, Reny was appointed Senate Chair of the Committee on Marine Resources and a member of the Health Coverage, Insurance, and Financial Services Committee. She has also served on a Commission to Expand Access to Oral Health Care and the Maine Climate Council.
“I am proud of the work accomplished during my first two terms in the Maine Senate and the direct impact these policies will have on District 13,” said Reny.
“My colleagues and I prioritized addressing the rising costs of living and investing in important state and local infrastructures like roads, broadband, housing, storm preparedness, public education, property tax relief, and more. I’ve personally passed bills to protect mobile home communities, support working families who rely on childcare, and improve access to affordable medication.”
Of her work this session, Reny added, “I’ve worked across the aisle to move legislation forward even in these increasingly polarizing times. I’m currently working on a bipartisan bill that focuses on creating more pharmacy access in rural and underserved areas throughout the state, because affordable and reliable access to healthcare crosses party lines.”
Senator Reny has received perfect voting scorecards from Maine Conservation Voters, Maine AFL-CIO, Maine Women’s Lobby, Planned Parenthood Maine Action Fund, and Maine Recovery Advocacy Project. Her first two campaigns were also endorsed by the Committee to Protect Health Care, Maine Credit Union League, Sierra Club, Professional Fire Fighters of Maine, Maine Service Employees Association SEIU Local 1989, and others.
Reny is funding her campaign through the Maine Clean Election Act, a voluntary full public funding system for state candidates. To qualify, Reny must demonstrate community support for her campaign by collecting a minimum number of $5 contributions to the Maine Clean Election Fund.
