Our official calendar of summer activities has ended and sadly our AD’s Tim and Abby Mahoney have returned to their winter home. Thank you to both of them for all of their efforts in helping to make this a very successful season; we wish them well and look forward to their return next summer.

Luke Driscoll did an outstanding job filling in for Tim and Abby on their day off; all the best to Luke as he enters his sophmore year at Boston College.

Our last official event of the season was quite successful due to Riptide Services and Business Management. Thank you to Pete and Mary Ripley, Nick and Michelle Ripley and Chef Mike Whitney for providing a very delicious Italian Night. Thank you to the very capable waitstaff that included Maddie, Izzy and Gabe Andreasen and to Will Sledge, Joan Fischer and Barb Wagner for their assistance as well.

Riptide Services very generously donated all of the food and supplies for the event and also donated leftover food to the Boothbay Community Fridge.

Congratulations to Jessica (Klein) and Ryan Reynolds on the birth of their boy, James Thomas. James was born right before Hurricane Lala hit Hawaii. Fortunately they did not experience the brunt of the storm but did encounter high winds and heavy downpours. Congratulations to grandparents Pete and Barb Klein and grandparents Betsy and Skip Klein.

Congratulations to newlyweds Devon Parker and Pat Fraser who exchanged vows this past Saturday at the home of Devon’s great-grandparents, John and Jean Stevens and grandparents, the late Suzie and Pete Hamblett. Devon is the daughter of Scott and Jen (Hamblett) Parker.

On a sad note, we have lost another long time Ocean Pointer. Jim Steane passed away earlier this month at his home in Vail, Colorado. 

Jim grew up in Hartford, Connecticut where he attended the Kingswood-Oxford School. He then earned his degree from Leigh University. Following graduation Jim proudly served his country during the Vietnam War and then went on to have a very successful career in banking.

Many of us are familiar with the Ocean Pointer Jim Steane and know how much he enjoyed spending time at the Point with his wife Marilyn and their children Jennifer and Jeffrey.

Jim was an integral part of the Ocean Point community offering his help and assistance in whatever was needed and happily participated in the operation of the Ocean Point Colony Trust. Jim generously gave of his time and talent to many organizations throughout his life. Jim had many and varied interests including golf, tennis, boating and skiing.

Our condolences to his wife Marilyn, daughter Jennifer and her husband Dave, his son Jeffrey and his wife Cindy, his grandson Morgan and his sister Jane Griffen and her husband Donald and many nieces and nephews.
