We’re happy to announce that new summer resident Dan Downing will be joining us on Tuesday, Aug. 19 at 10 a.m. to discuss simple approaches to solving personal technology issues. He’ll also take questions from the group on phones, computers, Wi-Fi, and anything tech-related. Dan is a retired software engineer who ran his own consulting businesses and is now a Florida-to-Maine snowbird.
The Community Center is organizing a field trip to the Frances Perkins National Monument, located at 478 River Road, Newcastle, on Thursday, Sept. 18. The group will depart from the Community Center at 10 a.m. Join us as we explore the extraordinary life and contributions of Frances Perkins, the first woman appointed to a U.S. presidential cabinet. She served as the fourth U.S. Secretary of Labor from 1933 to 1945—the longest tenure in the position’s history. The Community Center will be hosting our State Representative, Holly Stover, who will speak about issues that concern you and our community. She’ll share updates on what’s happening in the legislature and how it could directly affect you. Stay tuned for the date and time she’ll be joining us.
Come hang out with the Genealogy Club on Saturday, Sept. 13 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. It’s all about exploring your family history, and having some great conversations—plus, there are always some yummy goodies to enjoy. It’s a fun and relaxed way to spend your Saturday, so don’t miss out!
