Nathan’s Pharmacy helping to support animals

Nathan’s Wellness Pharmacy and Apothecary, in the Meadow Mall in Boothbay Harbor, is teaming up with the Whitey Foundation, an institution started by Lawrence Pitcher, to help animals.

Four years ago, Pitcher, of Boothbay Harbor, wrote, “My Life and Times with Whitey.” He loved Whitey so much, he wrote a simple 20-page book about his life and times with Whitey after the 20-year-old cat died in August 2015. Proceeds from sales of the book benefit Boothbay Animal Hospital. Illustrated by Bob Bryson, Pitcher’s book is still on sale at Sherman’s Bookstore, Gimbel’s Country Store and Boothbay Animal Hospital.

Recently, Nathan’s agreed to assist Pitcher by collecting items for cats and dogs at its 185 Townsend Ave. location.

“I appreciate Nathan’s for helping me provide for the animals of the region,” said Pitcher.

People can donate and drop off the following items at Nathan’s: cat and dog food, cat litter, blankets and toys.

For more information, call Pitcher at 207-350-4067. Nathan’s is open Monday through Saturday. Visit www.nathanspharmacy.com for hours of operation and more information.
