The Met Live in HD 2025–26 Season
Lincoln Theater is proud to announce the return of The Met Live in HD, the Metropolitan Opera’s acclaimed series of live cinema transmissions, for the 2025–26 season. Eight extraordinary operas will be broadcast directly from the Met stage in New York City to Lincoln Theater’s screen, offering audiences in Midcoast Maine the opportunity to experience world-class opera close to home.
Since its debut in 2006, The Met: Live in HD has transformed opera-going by making these productions accessible to audiences in more than 70 countries. Each broadcast features expert camera work, backstage access, and artist interviews, creating a uniquely immersive experience. From beloved classics to bold new works, this season offers something unforgettable for every opera lover.
The new season opens with an encore screening of Bellini’s “La Sonnambula” on Saturday, Nov. 1 complete with a pre-opera talk by Dr. Morton Achter to set the stage, followed by Puccini’s beloved and timeless “La Bohème” on Nov. 8 and Strauss’s elegant “Arabella” on Nov. 22. December brings the gripping drama of Giordano’s “Andrea Chénier” (December 13), while the new year begins with Bellini’s “I Puritani” (January 10, 2026), also paired with a pre-opera talk. Spring unfolds with Wagner’s monumental “Tristan und Isolde” on March 21, Tchaikovsky’s lyrical “Eugene Onegin” on May 2 with a pre-opera talk and concludes with the contemporary brilliance of Gabriela Lena Frank’s “El Último Sueño de Frida y Diego” for its Metropolitan Opera Premiere on May 30.
“Opera is a unique shared experience,” said Executive Director Christina Belknap. “Seeing a production today is as thrilling as it would have been for audiences back when they were first performed. People sitting in a theater together, laughing and crying. It’s an experience that just isn’t the same watching it on demand or listening to it on the radio. And whether you’re a first-time opera attendee or you are seeing your hundredth production, the impact of these incredible pieces never gets old.”
