For the first time in a while, rain dampened the Memorial Day ceremonies in the Boothbay region, however, those who turned out listened to the fine speeches given by parade organizer Chris Armstead and others, and the music provided by the Community Band.

The events began in Newagen as a small group of veterans and onlookers waited in the rain as Grand Marshal Arthur Richardson with assistance from Addie Barter and Al Cohen, placed wreaths at the various monuments.

The Chamber's trolley and a school bus from the Wiscasset School Department transported participants to the various ceremonies. Lincoln County Sheriff's Office provided traffic control and Boothbay Region Ambulance Service was on hand in case of any emergencies.

The local Coast Guard station provided the color guard and providing the gun salute was a Marine group from Brunswick.
