Barbara was born May 18, 1944 to George and Jean (Elliott) Duffy in Stamford, Connecticut. She was a graduate of Darien High School. Throughout her working years, Barbara served her community with dedication. In her younger years she worked as a teacher's aide, a role she loved dearly. She also worked as an assistant to the assessor in Boothbay Harbor for 25 years before her retirement in 2013.
A gifted crafter, Barbara found joy and purpose in creating beautiful works with her hands. She especially loved needlepoint and quilting, spending countless hours creating projects that reflected her patience, talent, and attention to detail which was acknowledged by others in all aspects of her life. There was not a craft she didn’t put her hands on. She acquired countless materials with big ambitions to try her hand at each and every one.
Barbara also had a special place in her heart for animals. Through her life, she had many pets she held close. She loved all of them just the same, abundantly.
Barbara volunteered at her local library and enjoyed attending her Mystery Book Club. A memory she and her loved ones looked back on fondly and with smiles was that of being named “Brud’s Hot Dog Queen” by Brud’s Hot Dogs.
Barbara shared 10 wonderful years of marriage with her husband, Scott.
Above all else, Barbara loved and adored her grandchildren.
Those who knew Barbara will remember her by her kindness and positivity in all that she did, her warm and comforting smile and the happiness she radiated all throughout her life.
